Dublin Half Marathon 2013

Today’s Dublin Half Marathon has been overshadowed by the death of a competitor. The race organisers have posted a statement on the matter.

Many of us who ran in the race saw the scene at the 11-mile mark, near the Magazine Fort in the Phoenix Park, where ambulance staff were treating a runner lying on the road.

For what it’s worth, I finished the race in 1:37:51, a new half-marathon personal best by over two minutes. But I’d prefer not to dwell on this race for the moment.

Enjoy your running and get home safely.

I was at that half marathon last year. The news of that poor man just gutted me so I can imagine it had a huge impact on you, and on the other runners. So sad.

Good job on a PB especially on such an unseasonably warm day. You`re on course for a great marathon.
